Experience Music Program (EMP) and the Science Fiction Museum (SFM)

There are 2 main attractions that many visitors wish to see when they are in Seattle, the EMP and SFM.

The Experience Music Program is a must for any music lovers. It is a dynamic interactive exhibit that allows you to explore the history of modern music in America, with a focus on Washington. You can learn about the evolution of guitars or make your own music CD in the interactive studio, and for all those rock fans the Jimi Hendrix exhibit is amazing.

Those of us who are die hard science fiction fanatics, the Science Fiction Museum is an interesting and nostalgic stop. Here you can see some of your old time favorite relics of sci-fi’s earliest days to the queen alien herself!

The price is $15 at the door, or if you are staying at the Green Tortoise Hostel you can buy a ticket for $11. You get into both museums with one ticket.

However, if you are in Seattle on the first Thursday of every month then the museums are free after 5pm.

My personal impression is to go on the free night. The museums were great and I enjoyed them, but unless you are a huge fan of both music history and science fiction you might find it a little dull.
