August 4th thru 5th saw the 2007 Arab Festival held at the Seattle Center. Produced by the Arab Center of Washington (ACW), this festival is a labor of love to show the many positive facets of the Arabian culture and traditions.

There was much to see, hear, eat, drink and learn. This years highlight was May Nasr from Lebanon, who performed on stage. There was even a booth to explain to Arab-Americans how to get through customs with ease and how to tactfully handle any problems that may occur due to the present image …
During the month and a half celebration of SEAFAIR, beginning on June 30th through August 19th, much fun was had by all. There were parades, and events throught Seattle every weekend. There were boat races and Blue Angels, pirates and pazazz!

Did you Know? Pike Place Market Recycles 2,400 gallons of used cooking oil from Market Restaurants each month, much of which is used by local companies to produce Biodiesel.
Every year the Seattle Center hosts international festivals to further educate visitors and locals to the diversity the world has to offer. This year has been no different, sponsored by Safeco insurance there have been a total of 14 festivals already. Here is a list of the remaining 8.

Did You Know? Pike Place Market was named in honor of John Pike, architect of the University of Washington.

Today was not only the first of the month and the first day of Labor Day Weekend.. It also saw the start of the 3 day music and arts festival by the name of BUMBERSHOOT!
With food, arts, activities and music music music, Bumbershoot is a great time to be in Seattle.
Bands include : Crowded House, The Shins, Fergie, Joss Stone and many more.

The Seattle SandFest was held on Saturday, August 25th between the hours of 11am and 5pm.
But for the few days prior we got to watch as the plaza in front of Westlake Center on 4th and Pine was transformed into something reminiscent of a beach vacation for sculpturers.

In truly amazing style numerous sand sculptures appeared overnight highlighting everything from Coffee, to animals to anything imaginable.

But it wasn’t just sand, there was music, booths and games.

Some of you might not believe it, but Seattle does have a beach scene.
