Summer is Here!!! Beaches and Parks
Well those of us who are sunworshippers have had the chance to enjoy that giant yellow ball in the sky for the past two weeks. Summer was a bit of a slow starter this year, but once she arrived she did so with a vengence (just ask my sunburn).

Zoo Tunes have started!!
This week saw the start of the concerts at the Woodland Park Zoo with Keb’ Mo’ and Taj Mahal. This sunday the Indigo Girls will play. Hurry and get your tickets before they are all sold out. Check out the site for Zoo Tunes.

GreenFestival…
Did you think you’d ever see the day when a polar bear would wish for an ICEMAKER? ![]()
Recently held at the Washington State Convention and Trade Center, located at 7th and Pike, was the GreenFestival. Here you could have all your green questions answered, wander through 300 exhibits including green technology; deep ecology; conservation and recycling. Listen to over 100 speakers including the Mayor of Seattle, Mayor Nickels; Summer Rayne Oakes, Discovery Network’s Planet Green and Amory Lovins from the Rocky Mountain Institute.

First Thursday in Seattle
If you plan your trip to Seattle just right you are in for a treat. The first Thursday of every month museums and galleries are free, there are art walks in most of the neighborhoods and flea markets dotted around the city.
SAM (Seattle Art Museum) is free all day and the special displays are half price.
This month we have a special exhibit called Inspiring Impressionism - Usually $20, for first Thursday it is only $10.
EMP (Experience Music Program) is free after 5pm.
Museum Of Flight is free after 5pm.

Fremont Solstice Parade - Bare Bums and all
Just around the corner is the summer solstice where we celebrate the longest day of summer and prepare for winter as we watch our sunlight hours dwindle away. For most of us in Seattle however, we are confused as we have not had the joy of seeing the sun yet and now it is time to say goodbye.
Well I guess if we have to celebrate it we may as well do it in style and spend the weekend of June 21st/22nd frolicking with the funky Fremont community and the Solstice Parade. ![]()

Fado’s Irish Pub
There is a pub downtown on 1st and Columbia that has become my “Cheers” pub, Fado’s Irish Pub. Sure, it might be part of a chain with a total of 15 Fado’s spread over the US, but its the staff that makes the difference

Chatting with Mark, one of the managers who brings a real Irish accent to the place, I discovered something that makes Fado’s unique. The Irish Pub Company assembled the entire place in Ireland and then shipped it to the US piece by piece.
